American and Import Auto Repair Johnson City
We are Tim and Kim Smith. When we stared this business in 2002, we wanted to create an auto shop we’d be proud of, a welcoming place where our friends and neighbors could expect the best service and repairs in the business.
One of our first priorities was to hire skilled and highly-trained and ASE-Master technicians. Just as important, we looked for technicians who are also good people. Our master mechanics take the time to explain problems, how to fix them, what can wait, and what needs to be done right away for your family’s safety.
We also wanted to be hands-on in the business. I wanted to put my decades of experience in automotive repair to good use and work on cars, which I love, and Kim wanted to make sure women are comfortable in our shop with cleanliness and a woman friendly environment.
We have built a business that people would describe to their friends as honest, trustworthy, dependable, and one of integrity. We wanted to create the kind of business that a lot of people don’t think exists anymore.
Honesty, integrity, great service at fair prices never goes out of style. Those are the values that our community appreciates and values that Kim and I hold dear.

Our technicians’ hands are among the most skilled in the business. Each one of our technicians is trained and certified in his particular area of expertise by The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE). This non-profit, independent organization is dedicated to improving the quality of automobile and truck service and repair through the voluntary testing and certification of technicians. ASE Certification is widely recognized as the hallmark for automotive professionals. American & Import Auto Repair is also designated as an ASE Blue Seal shop which means we are tested and are up-to-date on cutting edge technology.
We take the stress out of repairs. We do it all through a full service shop that is staffed by specialists in all phases of auto and light truck service and repair. With knowledge, skill, and the right tools, our ASE Master technicians are well equipped to provide all general and routine maintenance, repair or replace brakes, repair electronics, make A/C repairs, fix engines, transmissions, cooling systems, and replace timing belts. If your vehicle is shaking at higher speeds that may mean you need a wheel alignment or your tires need to be balanced and rotated. We also offer general services, under car service, heating and air conditioning services, internal engine services, flash update computer and control module services, fix complex electrical problems and handle just about anything else your vehicle throws at you. We also offer solid advice.
We use great products. We use only brand new parts for repairs and high-quality BG products for oil changes and fluid flushes from transmission, power steering, brakes, and differential to the cooling system.
